Abdallah Sahih al-Ajmi, a Kuwaiti, was released from Guantanamo. After serving three and a half years, he was acquitted in a Kuwaiti court of being a terrorist, a member of Al-Qaida. Now one would think after settling to a normal life with a family, he would find himself with responsibilities, such as taking care of his family. But no, al-Ajmi needed to act stupid as a jihadist and make life miserable for others.
Al-Ajmi somehow disappeared and entered Syria. Then he entered Iraq, and involved himself in a suicidal bombing that killed at least seven Iraqis and wounding 28. Throught family members, the U.S. military was informed that al-Ajmi died from this bombing.
Tom Wilner, who represented al-Ajmi, commented that the fault of his client's behavior was the due process of the military court at Gitmo, the "inhuman" treatment he received, and his religious rights violated. From there on, al-Ajmi declared himself a jihadist, and his hatred for Americans. Well....al-Ajmi was released, and off he went to kill.
Mr. Wilner puts the blame for the actions of his client on the military style of justice, instead of blaming himself. It is he that is in denial that what he represented was a loose cannon. If any words of wisdom was given to al-Ajmi, it fell on deaf ear. Mr. Wilner should choose his clients more wisely. Has it occurred to Mr. Wilner, what was al-Ajmi doing anywhere near the field of battle at the time of his capture? A Kuwaiti in Iraq as an innocent by-stander? I doubt that.
